Vesna Furlanič Valentinčič: Alone in the Face of Death

A presentation of a newly published book of selected plays

Alone in the Face of Death, the third book by Vesna Furlanič Valentinčič, a poet and playwright from Koper, eludes a firm genre context: the essence of her writing is blurring the borders separating lyricism from narration, poetry from prose.

The book Alone in the Face of Death brings, along with individual poems, the author’s most important complete plays (Mama, Nevidni dvojček, Vsakomurnekajnikomurnič, Osamljenosti Marije S.) and some later fragments that comprehensively present a complete image of Vesna Furlanič Valentinčič’s voice – beginning with Peščena ura, a symbolist play published in a literary journal in 1997 and some sort of "intimate" book of the author that sprung from the final verse of the poetry collection Temni dvojček.

This talk with Vesna Furlanič Valentinčič, the author of the introduction Primož Jesenko, and translator Sonja Dular will be moderated by the editor Gašper Malej.
